Surprise!! Exclusive to Copious Fibers the new Crab Dip sweater from Adventure Bound Designs. A celebration of our low country and coastal traditions the Crab Dip sweater features a cunning little crab getting his pinchers on a breakfast fish. Worked in the round from the top down and using traditional stranded colorwork techniques in the yoke this sweater works up quickly and is truly an engaging knit. Watching each little crab develop is as addictive as a crabcakes.
This pattern included instructions for a top down sweater using stranded colorwork in the yoke and optional stripes in the body.
We recommend Juniper Moon Farms Patagonia for this sweater.
The “Crap Dip”Sweater is worked up as a gender neutral sweatshirt style sweater. The sweater is knit from the top down, with some short row shaping to raise the back of the neck for comfort. The colorwork chart is started after the short rows and continues to the underarm separation.
Once working the body and sleeves, a stripe pattern is introduced. This 6 row repeat makes knitting engaging as you wait for the next stripe to emerge. For the sleeves it allows for easy decreases tracking! Finish everything off with a simple rib and you will be ready for breezy walks in any seaside town.
This pattern is medium difficulty because of the yoke chart. The pattern develops slowly and is not repetitive making it a slightly more complicated knit. That said, the yoke goes by quickly. Use tacking sparingly in the yoke to control floats at your desired rate being sure to AVOID stacking a tack from one round to the next in the same column of stitches.
